November 10, 2007 Update on Meeting Held October 23, 2007 We had a good turnout for our meeting which was held in Bay City on October 23, 2007. Texas Parks and Wildlife biologist Bill Balboa was present. He gave a presentation on the status of our speckled trout in Matagorda Bays. However, our main concern has been recent croaker fishing in our bays. Mr. Balboa only had data for the spring season of this year. Unfortunately we have no current data for the fall of this year. Because of this, the consensus at the meeting was to "wait and see" how the figures for fall compare with spring's figures. However, because of our Texas weather, we are unable to accurately predict a good fishing day 100% of the time. Barometric pressure, wind direction, water temperature, the moon, the sun, and other factors must be taken into account. For that reason, good fishing spots must be chosen based upon a combination of many of these. This fishing forecaster bases its predictions and recommendations on combinations of these factors. Please keep in mind that this database may predict good fishing at a certain spot, but a norther may blow in unexpectedly and turn the weather cold and rainy.
