Fishing was real good this morning but it slowed down in the afternoon because of the wind. In East Matagorda Bay, fishing under the birds along the north shoreline produced nice-sized trout and some reds on live shrimp and artificials. The same held true for West Matagorda Bay, although the trout were smaller but more plentiful. Fishing on live shrimp outside of the Diversion Channel in West Bay produced some trout and reds. All in all, it was a nice day to fish until the wind picked up this afternoon.

Lots of redfish were caught today in Oyster Lake drift fishing with live bait. Fishing with artificial bait (dark-colored Bassassassins and Norton Sandeels) under scattered birds along the north shoreline in West Matagorda Bay produced some trout until the wind picked up out of the east. East Matagorda Bay also produced some trout under birds on the north shoreline using artificials.

Drifting reefs along the north shoreline of East Matagorda Bay and fishing under the birds produced trout and redfish today. The fish were being caught on live shrimp and the darker Texas Trout Killers. The wind was out of the northeast at about 10 m.p.h. The water was generally muddy except for a few clear spots along the north shoreline where the fish were being caught. Live bait was available.

A few fish were caught off Intercoastal Waterway in the cuts leading to Crab Lake. (Crab Lake is between the Locks and Mad Island Slough.) Live bait is plentiful right now.

Fishing was good this morning, but the wind picked up around 11a.m. and the water started getting pretty rough. Drift fishing was good this morning on the east end of East Matagorda Bay -- drift and fish under the birds, using Norton Sandeels and Bassassassins..
