In East Matagorda Bay there are still a few trout being caught by drift fishermen over scattered shell using live shrimp under a popping cork. In West Matagorda Bay there were trout caught along the south shoreline by wade fishermen from Cullen houses to Green's Bayou using soft plastics. |

Offshore boats caught red snapper, ling, and amberjack. There was a report of a 44 pound ling being caught. At the jetties this morning (before it got rough) there were trout and reds being caught on live shrimp. In the river fishing with dead shrimp has been producing catches of black drum. In East Matagorda Bay there were some nice trout and reds caught on the south shoreline by wade fishermen - also by drifting over scattered shell using live shrimp. There were also trout caught around the reefs on the northeast end of the bay. In West Matagorda Bay the south shoreline between the Cullen houses and Green's Bayou produced trout for fishermen using artificials like Norton Sand Eels and Bass Assassins - and live shrimp under a popping cork. |
