Hi, Guys!
Well, it finally is starting to look like Spring
around Matagorda Bay! The water temperature is starting
to rise nicely, meaning that the fish will become
more active and ready to bite. I am starting to get
lots of reports of trout and redfish being caught
in East Matagorda Bay. Wadefishing along the shorelines
or over scattered shell pads is producing fish, as
well as drifting over shell. Red seems to be a good
color to use - try Bass Assassins, Trout Killers,
or Norton Sand Eels. If the shell is deep, glow/chartreuse
might be a good color to try. Redfish are showing
up on the shell, too. West Matagorda Bay is still
a little slow - but the shorelines should start producing
some trout and reds - try topwaters there. Flounder,
redfish and trout are showing up in the Diversion
Channel when the tide is moving.
Looks like the weather will be good for most of
the weekend - low seventies during the day, chance
of rain on Sunday - no reason to stay home! So, come
on down and "wet a hook"!
See ya next week,

It was a good day for fishing today - looks like spring
has decided to stay around for awhile. There were quite
a few trout caught out in East Matagorda Bay today by
drifting over scattered shell and wadefishing along the
south shoreline. There were also some redfish caught,
but not as many reds as trout. The guides were out in
East Matagorda Bay today in full force with their boats
full -- all of them brought in nice catches of fish -
trout, reds, and some sheephead. Again, it seems like
Charlie Paradoski was in the lead with the biggest catch.

A fair amount of fishermen went out today -- there
weren't a lot of fish caught. However, "Superguide"
Charlie Paradoski's party came in with a nice catch
of 18 trout and 1 flounder- caught drifting over scattered
shell in East Matagorda Bay. Seems like Charlie's
parties always come in with a nice catch.

Wadefishing along the south shoreline in East Matagorda
Bay is still the name of the game. There were a few
trout and reds caught today but that's all the action
we heard about.
Sunday, 3/10/02
Strong chilly winds from the east northeast prevented
many fishermen for venturing out into the bays --
it's very hard to find protected areas when the wind
blows from the east or north of east direction. We
saw a few trout come out of East Matagorda Bay --
but nothing to brag about.

On Friday there were some redfish and trout caught
in East Matagorda Bay by wadefishermen who fished
along the south shoreline -- mudhoggin'. Today started
off foggy until the norther blew in, bringing a little
rain and lots of wind -- which put a quick end to
this fishing day. However, before the wind got too
bad today, wadefishermen caught trout and redfish
in the same area as yesterday.

In East Matagorda Bay there were fair amounts of redfish
and speckled trout caught by wadefishermen along the
south shoreline. There were also some speckled trout
caught by drifting over scattered shell using Norton
Sand Eels, BassAssassins, and Mirrolures.
