There'll be a full moon this weekend, so the fish will be most active at night and in the middle of the day -- good tide action on Friday and Saturday with it slowing down on Sunday. Low tides will be around 8 a.m. and high tides about sundown.
Good luck -- and stay warm!

Fishing Reports for the past Week
11/29/01
The weather is still keeping everyone out of the bays, so no fishing report
again today - but things are looking up for the weekend, so come on down!
11/28/01
Weather not fit for man nor fish -- no fishing report today...
11/27/01
Bummer! No fishing report today -- the weather was (still is) very bad, and
no one went fishing.
11/26/01
A few trout were caught today in East Matagorda Bay by wadefishing along the
south shoreline or drifting over scattered shell. Not many fishermen went out
today, though.
11/25/01
In East Matagorda Bay this morning was real good -- then the wind got up this
afternoon. Until then, though, drifting under the birds and wadefishing along
the south shoreline using live bait and artificials produced trout and some
reds. In West Matagorda Bay the south shoreline prodcued some reds and trout
on live bait. At the jetties some bull reds were caught on cut mullet and sheephead
on dead shrimp.
11/24/01
East Matagorda Bay is still pretty hot right now for catching speckled trout
on artificials or live shrimp -- drifting or wading along the south shoreline,
under birds or over scattered shell, but it's not producing any redfish. West
Matagorda Bay is producing some reds along the south shoreline using live shrimp
and artificial bait. At the pier on Matagorda Beach some bull reds are being
caught on cut mullet and sheephead on dead shrimp. There was a report of someone
catching a large flounder in the surf today -- kinda unusual. For the most part,
though, the surf is still too rough but it's starting to calm.
11/23/01
Lots of trout caught today in East Matagorda Bay. Fishing was good enough that
you could pretty well catch them where you wanted -- under the birds, wading
along the south shoreline, or drifting over scattered shell -- all those places
were real good! At the jetties people were catching reds and sheephead on dead
shrimp. The mouth of the river was good for catching flounder using live shrimp
or live mullet. Redfish were being caught in Oyster Lake. West Matagorda Bay
was the only place that no one was bragging about.
11/22/01
Not much of a fishing report today -- most people were home spending time with
their families on the holiday. A few went out, though, and caught decent stringers
of trout under the birds in East Maagorda Bay. Others caught a few redfish and
some sheepshead at the pier on Matagorda Beach using dead shrimp.
11/21/01
East Matagorda Bay is where it's at right now! Drifting under scattered shell
and under diving birds still seems to prove the most consistent plan for catching
trout. Use artificial bait such as trout killers and Norton sandeels -- in red/white,
pumpkinseed w/ chartreuse tail, etc. Whiting and redfish are being caught on
live shrimp and cut mullet in the surf at Matagorda Beach.
